Obsess Much?

Halloween was a few weeks ago. We’re cruel parents and don’t let Timothy eat all of his candy right away. In fact, he still has more than half left. But I’m already on a tangent.

Timothy woke up very early the next morning and I could hear him doing something in the kitchen with his candy, but I was too tired to care much. When we finally dragged ourselves out of bed, Timothy very proudly presented to us the project that had been keeping him busy.

As it says on the bottom, it is his candy scoreboard. He had spent quite some time sorting and counting his candy. I especially like his totals at the bottom. 51 pieces of candy in 29 groups, 43 of which he likes and 8 of which are strange.

I’d pass this off as a one-time oddity, but when he was eating one of his bags of M&M’s I saw this.

From this point he proceeded to eat all of one color before he would move on to the next.

I wonder where he gets the crazy from? (Oh, yeah, that would be me.)

  1. Very cute. I always like hearing about others' OCD tendencies. Makes me feel a little less crazy.

  2. I can't stop laughing. I was amused with the candy scorecard. I'd like to know which 8 he found strange. But when it came to the color sorted m&ms and your comment the peals of laughter started. Suspect there is a strong genetic link and I have to own up to contributing.

  4. I first thought strange was "trye," but I should have known he wouldn't have misspelled that. Anyway, I thought that was pretty optimistic of him. Very funny. I'm a little bit like that too. It runs in the family.

  5. I sort my M&Ms by color too, so it must not be just the Cowles side. What a cute and ambitions boy!!

  6. I guess that would make it hard to sneak some of his candy. That is too cute, and I think he'd make a good accountant or something along those lines.

  7. So glad you shared this. I had a good laugh. Sure see some of this in our family, too. Must have gotten it from Suzanne!
